Silverstone Holdings is looking to appoint its first ever marketing director in an attempt to boost its brand identity.
According to Marketing magazine, the company that owns the Silverstone motorsport circuit wants to build on its association with Formula 1 racing.
After bagging a 17-year contract to host the British Grand Prix from 2010, the company wants to establish itself as a premium destination brand.
Whoever is appointed to the new media sales role will be responsible for developing Silverstone's international reputation.
The company wants to focus on the conference, exhibition and training services it offers, as well as its leisure experiences.
Under the new F1 deal, the first race will be staged on July 11th. The British MotoGP and the FIM Superbike World Championship will also be held at Silverstone this year.
The circuit was first opened as a World War Two airfield in 1943 and became a motorsport track after the Royal Automobile Club approached the Air Ministry in 1948.
