Why holiday season is a GOOD time to look for a new job

27 Jul 11 - 12:00AM  | General
“September, might as well wait until September.” Everyone’s on holiday, everything’s put on hold – wait until the kids have gone back to school and then start looking.

Sounds logical, but join the queue. September is like January, everyone starts looking for a new job at the same time. Yes there more jobs are advertised as more roles traditionally become available in September. But we are not Europe, we don’t shut down for the summer. We take 2 weeks holidays spread over July & August - i.e. we are here for 4 weeks out of 6 of the school holidays.

This period is a time when it is good to look for a job because employers who are looking for new staff usually need them immediately and will hire now. If you look now there is less competition – they are on holiday! Finally the weather tends to be good, so people are in a good mood and this will also improve your chances. So if you are considering moving job – the ‘holiday’ season is a great time to do it.
