Finding a new job isn’t the first thing that springs to mind when you think of December. Mulled wine and Christmas parties, freezing commutes and last minute shopping are more likely to be on your mind, and let’s face it – it’s highly likely that your most productive work doesn’t happen in December as things wind down for the holiday season.
But stop right there – research has shown that December could be the best month to start your hunt for a new job.
Why? For a start, because not many other people are looking, so there's less competition for the best jobs! On top of that, you’ll have a bit more time on your hands to spruce up your CV and make sure your applications are word perfect. There are more jobs around than you would think, as some companies like to do their recruiting in December so they can commit a little more time to it.
And even if you haven’t landed your ideal job to combat those January blues, you’ll have a big head start on everyone else who decides to 'start looking after Christmas' to motivate you!
